The visit of the Southern Photographic Society is an annual event, we always look forward to welcoming their members for an evening of socialising and some kind of photography related friendly competition and entertainment. Tricia devised and organised a one-off special competition for the Western members, the entries were five or six small prints on a board with a theme of the author's choice. Each entry was marked out of ten by all members and guests present, and the top placed entries were as follows:
1st John Hall, Viking Crosses of Old Kirk
Braddan During the interval, we all had a "pit stop", and enjoyed a supper of a wide variety of savouries and cakes, along with the usual tea and coffee. The Evening was rounded off with a slide quiz by Doug Allan, the quiz being a "competition" between the WPS and SPS with a team of ladies representing each club. All the other members and guests were able to take part just for fun. After three rounds of questions and a fair bit of good natured heckling from both teams, the scores were added up and it was a narrow win for the Southern (how did that happen!). The evening was a great success and enjoyed by all, thanks to Tricia for the print competition, all who contributed food, the ladies who organised the food and hot drinks, and to Doug for the slide quiz.
