Bob Martin's Birthday On Friday 26th February 2010 lots of members enjoyed a meal at The Highwayman to celebrate Bob's Birthday. Dorothy and John took the photos.
WPS President Eddie Fryer presenting Ruth Nicholls with a Silver Medal which was awarded for her print Tuscan Dawn in the 35th Smethwick International Exhibition of Photography January 2010, Ruth won the Silver as the Selector's Medal awarded by David Wheeler, FRPS, EFIAP/g in the Travel Projected Image category. Congratulations Ruth from all the members on your achievement. Ramsey Bakery This was a popular outing with a good
number of members attending, we enjoyed an excellent tour of the
bakery with Jim Duncan who explained the story so far for Ramsey
Bakery and described each part of the bread making process as we
went round. Even though the bakery was not in production during our
tour his wonderful presentation enabled us to understand what each
machine did and how the various equipment was used.
Moths at Glen
Maye A few members enjoyed a morning at Rosie Wood's home to see what had been caught in the moth trap Doug had set up the previous evening. On hand to help identify the moths was local expert Ian Scott. Doug said it had been a very good night for moths, the best of the year so far, and there was indeed a large collection of moths caught. Doug also brought along the trap from his home at Knocksharry so we had plenty to see. Thanks to Doug and Ian for all the information about each moth from their combined wealth of knowledge, and special thanks to Rosie and Chris for their hospitality. Tynwald Day Our display in the Homecomers Marquee at Tynwald was enjoyed by an almost constant stream of people passing through the tent. Thanks for the hard work by all those involved in organising the display and to the members who contributed photographs.
Kentraugh Mill A warm summers evening saw a good turn out of members to see Kentraugh Mill. We all enjoyed a guided tour of the Mill and learning it's interesting history. Thanks very much to the owners for all they did to make us welcome and an excellent guided tour. Afterwards we had a meal at the Cherry Orchard. Well done and thanks to Doreen for organising the outing.
