Award Presentation -
Ruth Nicholls
PAGB President Don Langford presenting Ruth Nicholls with the BPE One Crown Award for having 25 photographs accepted in their member exhibitions.
Ballaterson
Farm Milking Parlour Edgar Cowin and his wife Linda kindly showed us their state of the art milking parlour, it was an insight into how technology is used in Dairy Farming. We all enjoyed our visit which was really interesting and informative. Thanks very much to Mr and Mrs Cowin, and to Doreen for organising. Afterwards we enjoyed a meal at the Raven in Ballaugh.
Ayres wildlife
area and lakes The trip unfortunately was not blessed with the best of weather. It was cloudy and overcast and began to rain not long after we started on to the reserve. This is however a site of considerable potential and well worthy of a visit in the future. The birds all kept their distance, except for numerous Sand Martins which proved to be very difficult to shoot. There is however a considerable range of new plants as well starting to colonise the area, and these would also provide interesting subjects in the future. Something like a dozen members attended, and thanks must go to Doreen for organising the event. We adjourned to the Grosvenor afterwards for , once again, an excellent meal.
Jurby
Transport Museum
Our trip to the Jurby Transport Museum was blessed with a lovely evening and there was some interesting light inside the building. Twenty of us (plus our two hosts from the Museum) sat down to a communal meal at the Grosvenor – an excellent gathering. Many thanks to Doreen and Hannah for organising this.
Horse Trams
After being postponed from the
previous Saturday due to poor weather, a much better day was
enjoyed by members. A ride on a horse tram and a leisurely
look around the stables and farriery, followed by a visit to the
tram sheds - there were many photo opportunities. After
refreshments they boarded the tram for the return trip and then
most enjoyed a nice meal at the La Piazza. Many thanks to
Ruth for organising the outing.
Tynwald Day Our display in the Homecomers Marquee at Tynwald. Thanks for the hard work by all those involved in organising the display and to the members who contributed photographs. |
