Please see the programme for competition dates and

RULES
1.
Categories
Entries are divided into four categories: 1. Monochrome Prints, 2. Colour
Prints, 3. Prints up to A4 and 4. Projected Digital. Prints may be home
or trade processed. In the Monochrome Category prints must be
monochromatic or toned in a single colour. Projected Digital and Prints up to A4 may be Mono or Colour. In all
categories there is no restriction on the amount of computer
manipulation. Entries may be from film or digital origin, but must
be the authors own original work.
2. Classes
For competition purposes there are two classes:
Junior, and Senior. All persons over the age of 18 years are
classed as a Senior. On ceasing to be a Junior at 18 years
of age (or after the age of 16 years if the Competition Secretary
considers their work to be of a sufficient standard), he or she will
be placed into the Senior Class. Senior members who
gain the most points in each category during their first season as a
competing member will receive an award. (Juniors who have entered
competitions and members who have entered competitions with other
photographic clubs are excluded from these awards).
3. Print Sizes
The maximum size for the Monochrome Print and Colour
Print categories is 50cm x 40cm
including mount. Prints up to A4 category must be no
larger than A4 and the mount no larger than 40cm x 30cm. Note: there is a trophy for the best small
print in the Presidents Competition maximum size 7.5” x 5”.
Projected Digital entries should be submitted in jpeg file format.
4.
Identification of entries
Names are to be omitted from entries. All entries
must be titled, (for Projected Digital the file name should be the
title).
5. Number of
entries
Up to five entries in total with a maximum of three
entries per category may be entered in all competitions, with the exception of the Small Print, and Annual
Open and Photographer of the Year competitions. (See rules 7 & 8).
6. Special
Competitions
In Special Competitions (President’s, Chairman’s, and
Annual Open and Photographer of The Year), entries will be judged as
one class. In Nature, Open and Assignment Competitions
they will be judged separately.
Note: there is a trophy for the best small print
(maximum size 7.5”x5”) in the President’s Competition.
7. Points
Scoring Competitions
Points are awarded in Assignment, Nature,
Open, Sporting Activities, and Small Print Competitions. Each entry
will be marked out of 20 and all marks awarded will count towards
their respective category point’s championship
(except Small Print
Competition, see rule 8)
and the overall
point’s championship.
8.
Small Print Competition
This is an open competition (any subject being
permissible) for un-mounted black and white or colour prints,
maximum
size 7.5” x 5”, five entries per member. Points won will be awarded to the
author’s yearly total, but not to any
categories. All entries may be re-entered in other categories in
other competitions.
9. Annual Open
and Photographer of the Year
The maximum number of entries in this competition is
normally five. *(The
committee has the option of changing this year by year while keeping entry numbers to a manageable level. Adequate notice will be
given). Entries may be in any number of categories in any
combination. A member entering this competition must have entered
at least three competitions during the current season, and
entries (in any format) from previous years Annual Open and Photographer of the Year
Competitions are excluded. The judge will award points per
entry and the member with the highest points total for their entries will be the Photographer of the Year. The judge will
also select the best entry in each category.
10.
Duplication of entries
An entry may only be submitted in one category
(see rule 1) during
any season, eg: a projected digital once entered in a competition should not be
re-entered as a print, and vice versa (except small prints, see rule
8). A different category may be
entered in subsequent years providing the original image has not been
placed in the top three (see rule 11) in any other category.
11. Re–entry
rule
The three highest marked entries (more if marks are equal) in each
category in points scoring competitions (see rule 7) may only be
re-entered in special competitions (see rule 6). All entries first
entered in special competitions may be re-entered in points scoring
competitions.
12. Age of
Entries
Entries may be of any age in all competitions.
13. Closing
Dates
Closing dates for entries is seven days before the
competition, unless otherwise stated.
14. Membership
Entries will be accepted from paid up members only

Please Note - In case of any
misunderstanding, below is the correct interpretation of the
re-entry rules:
An image can only be entered
once
in an Annual Open and Photographer of the Year
Competition even if the image has been changed to a
different category in a subsequent year.
In points scoring competitions (see rule
7), the three highest marked entries (more if points are
equal) can only be re-entered in special competitions
(see rule 6).
In special competitions (see rule 6), all
entries first entered in special competitions may be
re-entered in other competitions.
