Trophy presented To Dave Salter by Tony Curtis

The Long awaited Two Way Battle between the Western Photographic Society and the Southern Photographic Society took place on the evening of Wednesday 15th February 2023
Hosted by the Southern Club at their Colby Football Clubhouse venue, this is an annual event in the photographic calendar that both clubs look forward to
Guest Judge was Tony Curtis, esteemed photographer and President of the Isle of Man photographic Society.
30 images were submitted by both clubs with a maximum allowed number of 5 entries per member
The Western were represented by 13 members, and there was a wide diversitky in terms of images ranging from portraits and macro, to landscapes and sporting activities
At the halfway stage the Western were slightly ahead by 267 to 258 points, with a handful of 18s and 19s and one 20 point score from Bob Servante of a Kestrel perched on a rock
The second half began with a slow start for the Western, but a 20 point-scoring macro image by Dennis Wood of a garden plant soon swung things around
A collection of 19's from Dorothy Flint, Dave Salter and Peter Leadley allowed the Western to pull ahead, and we finished a respectible 15 points ahead at the conclusion of the evening - 528 to 513
Image of the evening, and third 20 point scoring entry, went to Georgina Shaw's 'Contemplating' from the Southern Photographic Society. A well deserved selction and mono side profile portrait of a monkey.
This annual event will take place at the same time next year hosted by the Western Photographic Society at their venue in the premises of the British Legion in Peel
